Top 10 Appetizers for Your Holiday Weekend

We have a big holiday weekend coming up and for most of us, that means an appetizer or several will need to be prepared.  It is always good to have a couple in your recipe file that are homemade and store bought.  No one wants to be stuck in the kitchen for hours and miss out on the party, but you also want to put a little effort into making something delicious and pleasing to the eye.  It is a holiday after all!  Whether you are hosting an event, or bringing an appetizer to a potluck, I got you covered on what to prepare.  All recipes are easy to make and my personal tried and true favorites.  For good measure, I threw in my cocktail of choice for a daytime holiday party.

1.  Classic Tomato and Basil Bruschetta

I teased you with the bread pic, so it's only fair I start with this recipe.  This bruschetta recipe has been in my family for almost 30 years and it is so simple to make.  I love to serve this appetizer at parties because it is affordable yet classy and guests can make their own.  Get the recipe here!

2.  Chicken, Avocado and Goat Cheese Salad in Endive Cups

This is a newer recipe but it is so easy (um, thank you rotisserie chicken) and so beautiful, and it is healthy!  You can fill the cups or guests can make their own, and it can be served with crackers and the endive cups to give more options.  Get the recipe here!

3. Creamy Deviled Eggs

I cannot stress enough how amazing these deviled eggs are.  Whipped cream cheese is the secret ingredient and I promise you will not be disappointed.  They are fantastic and my whole family asks for them at every get together we have.  Get the recipe here!

4.  Prosciutto and Goat Cheese Wrapped Asparagus

Simply stated, these are a serious crowd pleaser.  The salty, crunchy prosciutto, the creamy and tangy goat cheese make an incredible trio with the sweet asparagus.  Occasionally these will not make it out of the kitchen, they just get gobbled up right from the baking sheet before hitting the serving platter.  Make these, please!  Get the recipe here!

5.  Smoked Salmon Appetizer Plate

This is a completely no-cook recipe, so you're in, right?  Seriously, how much easier does it get to remove items from their package and place on plate?  Not only is it simple, it is delicious and healthy with a gorgeous presentation.  Get the recipe here!

6.  Queso Verde

This isn't just your standard cheese dip.  This is a homemade, creamy, ooey-gooey, spicy dip that takes just 5 minutes to prepare.  It is absolutely delicious with tortilla chips and is also fabulous with red bell pepper slices or cauliflower florets for low-carb options.  Get the recipe here!

7.  Homemade Baked Pita Chips

Most of us will have some sort of veggie and dip tray going on.  I always have one so I can fill up on the healthy stuff and eat just a little bit of the not so healthy stuff.  With my veggie platter, I always make my homemade pita chips.  They are super easy and so delicious and are actually more affordable than buying pita chips from the store.  You have to try these!  Get the recipe here!

8.  Pan-Fried Shishito Peppers

It doesn't get easier than throwing some little peppers in a pan and frying them up for about 5 minutes.  These are delicious, healthy and super simple to prepare.  Your guests will love snacking on these little finger foods and they taste great hot or room temperature.  A nice healthy option to have.  Get the recipe here!

9.  Asian Sticky Wings

Sometimes it is nice to have a more substantial appetizer to add to the mix, and these wings hit that mark.  They are sweet and spicy and super easy to prepare, just pouring the sauce over them and baking.  A perfect addition to your appetizer spread.  Get the recipe here!

10.  Pineapple Champagne Cocktail

Obviously champagne is an extremely important part of any holiday or celebration.  This cocktail takes the standard mimosa and turns it on its head while kicking it up a few notches.  This is a great drink to make for a brunch or early dinner.  Trust me, everyone will be happy!  Get the recipe here!

I sure hope this makes the holiday weekend a little easier for you, whether you are hosting an event or attending one at another house.  No matter what you do, I hope you have a happy and healthy weekend full of love, peace and delicious food!  xoxo
